I purchased the car two weeks before Z fest, and 3 days of that was driving it back to Ontario from St John's Newfoundland...Well not driving the whole way, there was a 16 hour ferry ride in there near the beginning of the journey. Anyways, I brought it to Z fest just as I bought it though it now sported 73,000km on the odometer. I have now had some time to look it over and make a plan for getting it ship shape, (sorry the pun, but the ferry was mighty big and 16 hours at sea gives the car a bit of a nautical vibe now.)
This car was stock original, and I mean original. Original exhaust, spark plug wires, belts, hoses, you name it.
I am working my way replacing the basics like "you know" the fuel filter etc. Basics
The exhaust may have been original, but was getting rusty, had 4 holes, and two handfuls of rust came out of the cat. It now sports a stainless steel 3 inch diameter mandrel bent exhaust with a performance cat and straight through muffler exiting into twin 2.5 inch tips. Sounds nice with just the right amount of snarl that won't upset the neighbourhood. It gave the car some extra punch too.

The interior was in pretty decent shape, but I was not fond of the tan/brown look, so I pulled the interior apart and gave it a more contrasting tutone look. It is now black and tan. Black dash, center console, Grant GT steering wheel and a "stripe" along part of the doors. I will recover the seats this winter in black and tan. Everything else stays tan.

Next was to get all new rubber bushings with a urethane bushing kit, new shocks and a set of lowering springs. SS braided flex lines and new brake pads too.

Last but not least, I installed a Bosch boost gauge and a manual boost controller for an extra 3psi of boost. Now it has some extra "get up and go"
So many details to work on. It should keep me busy for a while. I've been enjoying it cruising around. I only work on it a bit at a time as I don't want too much downtime with only part of the summer to enjoy the "newness".

Not quite the final look. Just need the seats redone.

Engine Bay Before photo. The after photo won't be much of an improvement over this.

No serious updates as I am having too much fun driving the car before the season ends to do any more work to it for now. 10psi feels great. The car should have come that way from the factory.

Small update. I need to resize the pics before I can upload, but I will do that separately. Firstly. I am still driving the zx. I have it properly lowered and the handling is dialed in nicely considering I am running slightly larger than stock white letter BFG's on stock 15inch wheels. I still have not completed the seat upholstery project, so in the meantime I dyed them two tone black/tan. Turned out better than I thought they would. Otherwise the car will remain almost completely stock including the radio. I just rolled 78,000km on it. I haven't had much seat time for the same reason you don't see me very often at events. My cruising is limited to the Durham Region as that is about all I have time for.
I'll get some of my pics up soon.

A more appropriate stance This photo does not include my new tires installed on the weekend. They are only slightly wider.
