I have a set of Toyota calipers 4 pistons for sale. Best bang for the buck you can get in terms of braking.
60$ per set or 200$ rebuilt (as new). They are the vented type of Calipers.
Send me a PM

Would these work on a 69 510?
Don't mess with Dat Sun!!!!!
From what I know, they will fit. I don't know 510 very well but I believe that they use the same strut as the 240z. Maybe someone can chime in. If you bring your strut, we can check. I am in North York. PM me.

What do you need to know to see if they will fit?
I can't bring the car until maybe April. but I can send you some info on my struts.
can you tell me what these calipers are out of so maybe I can do some research?
Thanks.

Ok, I figured it out I believe! They won't Fit onto the 510 with the regular perch. The one I worked on was a 510 with 240z perches. Therefore, no it won't fit onto your car.
They are the 4 pistons calipers from the 4runner, with the vented disk. I believe they are called S13W. Either way, if you want to search, type 4 piston Toyota and Datsun and they will come up. Sorry for my previous confusion.
With a '69 510 there are options but also a few gotchas. A 240z is not a good doner car for direct swap of front brakes.
Why not swap hubs from a 240z and proceed with the mods as per the 240z?
The front spindle on a 69 510 is smaller diameter than on a 240z or a '70 or later 510 so 240z hubs will not fit on an early 510. Haven't checked later 510's. Later 510 hubs will not fit on a '69 either. It's been awhile but I do think that special brackets are needed for the 240 calipers to fit a 510 strut.
How about 240z struts in a 510?
Will not work because the spindle angle is all wrong. I think the 240z strut is shorter too.
Best options for a 510?
Volvo calipers can be done using the original 510 brake rotors. Not sure which model '70s volvo though. Might need to turn down the diameter a little. I'm sure there is a writeup somewhere on one of the 510 sites. Have also seen vented rotors, not sure what they were from, and volvo calipers on a 510 also.
Modified front struts from a 280zx. More braking power than a stock 1600 510will ever need. 280zx parts from the aftermarket suppliers are now special order in most cases though. Had to wait a while for the remaned calipers.
There are more options out there. Check the 510 sites for more good info as not all things are a direct swap. Early 510s are a little strange. Don't let anyone talk you out of that front crossmember either.
Wait till a tie rod wears out on your '69!!!! Better yet, don't wait. '70 and later 510 tie rods are larger in diameter than the early ones. Early tie rod ends are made of a special alloy called UNOBTANIUM.
WOW! Thanks for the advice.
I think the easiest upgrade is the 280ZX struts and rotors.
maybe I'll talk to Bill H.
