Sounds like quite a few members went to the Rochester All Japanese car show this weekend... how was it? Please provide stories and photos:) I would have gone if I wasn't going to Z con but I couldn't swing both in the same month. I'll try and do Rochester next year if reports are good...

Rockdog, I'm happy to report that the week-end event we sponsored was from all accounts a smashing success, and those of us on the Board of Directors of the club remain sincerely interested in everyones comments regarding their personal experiences! We've heard from several OZC members that did have the opportunity to attend and by golly the feedback has been heartwarming.

Just to let you know the Best Car in Show trophy (selected solely by our club's primary sponsor Hoselton Nissan) went North from here with Brian Gracie and the big 50/50 raffel winner was none other than OZC's President Jean-Pierre Matte. There was a really strong turnout from your fellow club members, and for the most part they shared the full week-end's activities. We've had several follow-up thank-you emails from the OZC crew indicating they can't wait for our 4th annual event next year.

Our BOD is meeting this Wednesday to critique this years event and to tie up remaining loose ends - if anyone has a thought to offer we'd be very receptive to having them available for consideration. Our venue was new this year and as a physical site it shows great potential, our 3-day format has been effective, the new DJ we're using is an experienced car show hand and his professional flair was very evident, the food was top-notch, the venders participating were expanded from prior years, and the Watkins Glen Race Track cruise destination seemed to be a real hit with +/- 40 cars getting in 4-laps of pure fun after a 2.5 hour Finger Lakes cruise South to the Glen! Seeing the SCCA Regional competitors running the full track course at full speed in a competitive format was a great thrill for us all as we shared lunch overlooking the turn off the front straight-away and up through famous track 'esses' before heading home.

I don't want to rush towards Fall, but we here can't wait for OZC's August Car Show, the conversations we share and the atmosphere OZC's team creates makes that day a must-do type activity for many of our members. Here's hoping we see you next year at our show, in the meantime have a blast in Nashville ... Earle has me wishing that I could have fit the convention into my schedule this year especially with the effort that's being made to add the 'Tail of the Dragon' to the trip - I did it this winter on an icy February morning and have it on my Bucket List to tackle on a brilliant summer day!

Best Regards,
Mike Noonan

Hi Everyone,

This weekends event in Rochester was amazing. We had a great time with the ZCCR people and what a great turnout. I am not sure of the number of cars that attended but my best guess would be in the 150's. The weather was great, not to hot and not a cloud in the sky. ZCCR members were very courteous and put on a great show. All of the OZC members stayed at the Holiday Inn Express and after the dinner party at Elks Lodge, we talked the night away on the patio with the cheap beer they sell there, $13.50 for a 12 pack of Bud Light Lime!!!! That's crazy...

The following morning was a meeting in the front of the hotel and we were off on our Tour to Watkins Glen. There were over 40 cars ready to take the tour. The roads were great and we had no problems with traffic or breakdowns. I was able to record some of the driving on my windshield mounted DVR but for some reason it did not record the Watkins Glen laps we did. I will have to see why it didn't record. Other than this little technical glitch, I was the perfect day. After the racing we had a small lunch and then I could not stay to watch the racing as we raced back to Rochester to watch the World Cup game with Enrique and his family. We made it to catch the last minutes of the first half and then watched the remainder of the game at a local bar called "The Distillery" it was fun, again cheap beer was on the menu :)

It was a great weekend and I am looking forward to going again next year. I had the T-Tops off the entire weekend and thus I am so tanned it's not funny. My face is brown!!! now I really look Spanish!!!! hahaha

here are some pictures of the event... Enjoy...

Hi Mike (from Rochester), thanks for the report and positive feedback regarding OZC! I'll definitely make it out to your show next year... is it always the second weekend in July?

Congratulations to Enrique for receiving two awards!! Did he drive both his cars - the 510 and 210Y?

Nice pics Mauricio! My favourite Z is the white 350 with the lambo doors and pink leopard print! Not what I'd do to my white Z but pretty cool for a chick's car:p

Enrique had his 510 & 210Y . As for the date this year it was changed because of the ZCON at the end of the month.

Usually the middle of the month I believe, but being so close to ZCoN date they changed it this year.

It was a fantastic event! First class all the way. This event gets better and better every year, and including some laps around the Glen was icing on the cake. Not to be missed!

Unfortunately, the last time I saw Enrique and his family was at the was border inspection station. I hope they let him keep his trophies...

Hi guys,
I must say that we had a great time.
Thank you to the ZCCR for hosting such a great event.
The hospitality and organization were excellent. The hotel was great.
Too bad I missed out on the special rate and ended up paying almost double.
It was all worth it. I am happy with both my trophies.
One for my 69 510 and the second one for my 79 140Y.
I will definitely make it out there next year.
The laps on the track were awesome.
I am looking forward to seeing the Rochester crew here for our Z-fest.
Mauricio and I had some good, cheap beer and some wings with feathers....LOL
Oh, yes they let us keep the trophies but made me pay a ridiculous amount of taxes on my bottle of booze.
Peace out!!!

Here's a look at the green Datsun Sisters Enrique brought along! We'll update y'all regarding next years show dates as soon as we settle on them ... the third-week-end in July usually works out pretty well for everyone, maybe it'll be then in 2011 ... !http://www.zccr.net/main/Uploaded/EnriqueDatsuns.jpg

All, ditto what VP Mike Noonan said!

We greatly enjoyed the OZC member participation in our All Japanese Car Show Weekend. The friendship, Z-Cars and activities were the highlight of my summer for sure!

:D

ZCCR strives to improve our event each year and we take feedback from our guests seriously. As we refine the event, you can be sure to have a great time each year.

As far as scheduling, we will be at the mercy of the schedule of Watkins Glen International if we continue to use them as a Sunday destination for Laps and Lunch. Given the positive feedback from this past weekend, that most likely will be the case. The actual dates for 2011 will not be set until this fall, but we may very well establish the second or last weekend in July as our permanent date. We will certainly let you all know!

Again, thanks to all of our friends in the Ontario club for joining us. We look forward to seeing you in August at Z Fest.

See you in August.

Steve and I had a great time too. Thanks for all the help with my headlights. J. T. for tools and lamp cord at your home Friday night, Dave P. for the excellent VOM, tools and splices at the show Saturday. After all that it turned out I missed plugging in the single green ground wire on the signal switch when I changed it in the rain and dark Friday morning. Oh well, it was good to review how I have everything wired up.

Thanks again ZCCR for hosting a very memorable weekend. Count me in for next year.

I saw a bunch of you guys coming in Gate 2 that day. I was in a red 06'GTI heading out the gate. I drove the track all day on Monday...what a blast! The clubs Z cars looked really nice. I do miss my Z.
